Help! How to get a 2013 S to sound like JCW inexpensively
Hello all-
A friend of mine has a 2013 Mini HT S that she so desperately wants to get it to sound like a JCW—the throaty sound upon acceleration. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do this on a tight budget?

Unsure about "tight budget", however I purchased OEM replacement JCW "Silencer Assembly" for my former (sig) MCS. From order confirmation emails from the authorized MINI dealer 4.5 yrs ago, I found a current online retailer. Instead of linking to that, I see that ECS Tuning offers the same item for roughly same cost:
JCW Muffler - Rear JCW sport exhaust pipe with integrated tips
Also noting the forward pipe end does not have an expanded slip-on flange, thus you'll either have to weld it on at the OEM exhaust cut point or buy the 55mm clamp that ECS sold at that time (as did on my former car). Not cheap but oh the sound!

So would she need the rest of the exhaust system or just this JCW muffler? There is actually one on Allmag motors right now. If you have a minute, could you check it out and tell me if this is what you are referring to? Could she just have it welded in by a muffler shop?
Yes the one on allmag is the right one. I did the same thing when I had my 2013 S. I also had the second catalytic converter and resonator removed as well. Its one of the best sounding exhaust setups I’ve come across (stock downpipe and jcw muffler). Zero drone, zero codes and sounds great.
IIRC, the full OEM JCW exhaust featured some differences in the down pipe from manifold (others will correct me if wrong) but the linked item P/N is what I bought and installed on my former 2013 MCS. I could have taken it to a muffler shop and had them cut off and weld-on the new JCW "silencer" but chose to buy the 55mm clamp from ECS which features expanded tubing diameter fore/aft for slip fit with clamp bolts that worked fine on mine without welding. Cost of muffler shop labor vs buying the 55mm clamp would likely be similar with welding being more secure and permanent. Why not check availability from ECS and/or google the OEM P/N from MINI dealers while waiting on more replies?
