I've seen here that 215.45.R17 is the go to size when changing from runflats. Can I use a 215.55.R17 on my 2014 R55? I'm not concerned about fast cornering or road racing. I'm too old for that .I just want a smoother ride on my really cool little car...Thanks,John

215/55/17 will rub as it’s much taller.
Stock size of 205/45/17 is 24.26” diameter.
215/45/17 is 24.62”
215/55/17 is 26.31”, about 8.5% taller.

 

215/55-17 is a huge wheel for a Mini. A grand touring tire in a 215/45-17 size would be just fine.

 

If you want comfort, you can drop down to a 16” wheel, then you’ll be able to get the bigger sidewall.

 

Thanks, I kinda like the wheels on mine. I have 225.50.17 on my 08 HHR panel and the ride is real good ,but I understand that's way too big of a tire for a Mini
