Today I installed a Gp1 intercooler on my 06 R52 JCW. It looks much better now in the engine bay.

Refinishing bumper and some other things and she is ready. I am stoked!

Just a little something to think about...

If you "really" are interested in protecting the shock towers in your car, put a set of steel plates between the "shock mount and the tower".

If ANY professional Engineer says that those plates on the top of the tower offer much protection, he/she "bought" their degree. I'm retired now, but was in Aerospace (both planes and satellites) industry as a Mechanical / Test Engineer for many, many years, so I've got an idea how things work. Notice the "Test" as part of my title..!
I'd say, as a rough guess, that the aluminum top plates offer about 20% protection.
While the steel plates UNDER the tower will offer 100% protection.
