My r53 rear hatch is rusty and I have an opportunity to get an r50 rear hatch locally for $50 which seems too good of a deal to pass up. Ebay prices are around $500.

My question is: will it fit?

I tried searching with no luck.

Would I need to drill holes to move over the spoiler?
Inner door panel, etc.

Yes, it will fit. If it doesn’t have a spoiler, you’ll have to drill holes.

 

I searched car-parts.com and found a complete R53 hatch in my color for $200 locally.
