We recently moved to Germany and picked up a used 2012 Countryman ALL4 S today and drove it four hours back to our station. It was late by the time I got back but thought I noticed a vague smell from the engine bay. I also thought I saw steam coming from under the hood in stop and go traffic (it could've just been exhuast from the car in front of me).

I popped the hood and looked to look around but the only car I've ever worked on was a 74 Beetle. I circled the spot of concern in the picture. Any advice would be appreciated!
