R52 Automatic transmission to manual transmission swap questions

Automatic transmission to manual transmission swap questions

New to mini's but I bought 2 R52's. 1 automatic that has bad tranny and a 6 speed manual with bad top and body, top left down for year.
the automatic car is in great shape all but trans..transi want to pull motor and trans from manual car and put in Automatic car.
i both side by side, can anyone help with any ECU or unforeseen issues im going to run into?
Im on a time crunch as my son turns 18 on Feb 28th and I want to surprise him.
Please help asap........
Or should I put all thing good about automatic car into manual?

You could part out the junk car & use that money to buy a used or rebuilt automatic trans. Assuming an automatic is not a bd thing in the 1st place.

Seems like that would a lot less work.

want the 6speed. Not an awfulmatic......lol

It can be done and it will all bolt in, but after it's done you will need to send us the computers from the car and we will need to program them to know it's a manual now.

But keep in mind you need to take everything from your donor car cooling hoses, oil filter housing, oil cooler lines, all the engine and trans mounts, cv axles, pedal assembly, supercharger inlet, and so on.

And don't forget all the fun with the electrical harnesses.

This sounds like a really brutal project.

+1 on part out the manual car, fix and sell the auto trans car, then plow the proceeds from both into good running, driving 6-speed R52. You'll have the manual car you want much sooner and cheaper, without the needless self-punishment you're contemplating.
