My MINI Junkyard Video! So many R50 and R53 MINIS...

This video was shot on a recent trip to the junkyard to try to find parts for my MINI. There were surprisingly many to choose from and I tried to get footage of all of them. Most of them were R50s and R53s with one R52 and an R56 thrown in for good measure. I should have some more MINI content coming soon and am committing myself to doing a video a week, although not all will be MINI related.

Also, HELP! I am trying to figure out how to do a simple logo for my channel using a picture I took of my MINI as part of it but do not seem to be able to do it. Does anyone know of a simple way to turn a picture into a basic one dimensional stencil? (Or whatever you call it!)

lots of online websites that convert images if you can't operate a free program like GIMP or similar.

Try this https://online.rapidresizer.com/phot...to-pattern.php

It isn't always this way. They come and go in cycles. Just keep looking. If you are in an area that they sold well in they will eventually end up in a junkyard in your area.

Thanks! I will have to try that. I am working on a project in GIMP already, but the only tutorial I could find on it had me tracing a picture using a mouse and my hand just isn't steady enough.

Fun video!

Thanks for posting.

The yards have been dry lately in my immediate area, and work has been slow the last couple of months so I haven't been travelling much --- but I have alerts set up for when cars pop up all over the southeast because when I do travel I love to visit the junkyards...

...I recognized the cars you showed because they came in on my alerts!

LKQ is awesome for providing images.

Yeah, MINIs can be hard to find, especially nicely optioned models. I have traveled as far as Orlando and Sarasota to find parts for mine ( I live just north of Tarpon Springs, Florida) and some things are just plain difficult to find unless you are willing to pay up. I prefer to be patient and wait until the parts show up in LKQ since the cost difference is so significant and it's really the only way I can afford the car hobby since I don't make a lot of money. It helps to have a solid daily driver and a solid beater truck too, so the hobby cars don't need to be fixed immediately! I may do some more junkyard videos in the future but hope to have a better filming setup next time as I am planning to get a new phone soon and a gimbal to hold it with so I can shoot smoother video. (It's cheap content and I am trying to get to a regular weekly upload schedule.)

If you are ever in the Tampa Bay Area on a weekend and want to look at a MINI at LKQ, send me a PM. If I'm available maybe we can meet up!

Cali, FL, and Texas you can find a bunch on Car-parts.com But some of those old school places dont put the parts online, so you dont know they have them.

Nice find in FL. At least they dont have the rusty ones we have up here.
