R60 Strut tower braces
Strut tower braces
I have been aware of some degradation (minor splitting) in one of the strut mount boots on my 2015 R60 S ALL4. It seems like people have prevented additional wear by installing strut mount braces. I am interested in both improving the handling of my R60 as well as prolonging the life of the OEM parts (allowing me to save up and do coil overs by the time replacing is necessary).
I was originally looking at the M7 strut bar, but realized that Megan Racing also has a strut bar for about 30% of the cost of the M7.
I was hoping someone that has experience with either or both could chime in with their thoughts about the performance of these products.

The strut bushings have nothing to do with the tower plates and visa versa. If the bushings are showing that kind of wear they need replaced NOW. The strut tower braces are fit atop the strut towers to prevent tower mushrooming, a common shortcoming on the Gen 1 models. As far as stabilization is concerned, a heavier adjustable RSB is all you need, best mod bang for the buck.
We've used and installed both of them and honestly you won't feel or notice any different handling with either one. We also don't see mushrooming issues with the R60 so the marketed improvements are just that, marketing.
If you do want a brace go with the Megan as it will fit perfectly and is affordable, spending more money is just a waste.

If you are actually looking for a handling improvement a rear sway bar is by far the biggest bang for the buck as it will reduce body roll and make the handling more neutral.
