What's that song, "one thing leads to another"?
Engine pretty much done. Checked ball joints, [sloppy] 155K miles so might as well do struts, strut bearings and hubs to go with the new axles. Ball joints, Poly LCA bushings, and what the heck, poly sway bar bushing and links.
So here we are... But the wheel supports and caliper brackets are bead blasted and painted pretty so that's something. And all that cost was a can of paint!

They look gold in the photo but it must have been the lighting. Paint was Por-15, Detail paint/Stainless which gives a new cast iron look only a little shinier.
Thought I better clear that up. Gold would be pretty tacky.

Looks good! I did something similar to my '03 and ended up breaking both bolts in the front hubs, so had to buy new ones, plus the ABS sensors and they'd rusted into the old housings. Never easy, but the thing drives very nicely and im sure yours will too!
Soul,
Thanks. I forgot about the ABS sensors, mine were stuck as well and had to get new ones.
I usually know what I'm going to do the next day and give everything a shot of BP Blaster before I leave for the night which really reduces the bolt snapping issue.
I did break one of the 12mm [10 mm?] bolts that hold the lower strut to the steering knuckle housing. My impact was just bouncing so I heated up the threaded side. [Heat before Hammer!]
Put the breaker bar on it and it did just what it's name implies, broke the bolt off right at the head!
When getting the bolt out, [no fun] I realized the bolt was actually seized on the non-threaded side, not at the threads. Never suspected that.
Even after 50 some years of messing with cars I'm not sure I've ever seen that happen.
