Best way to paint pillars? Closest color match?

I was inspired by how clean bump32's new R53 is and decided it was time to do a deep clean. Like, a really deep clean:

I ordered some Black Wow and am going to clean and restore each trim piece one at a time. While I have everything out I was thinking this might be a great time to paint the pillars. I replaced my headliner with black and am waiting for my "Black Panther" handles and other stuff to come in. I was going to order the pillars but holy smokes they are obnoxiously expensive.

Long story short, has anyone painted their pillars? How did they come out? Is there any way to make sure they last a long time? I've read SEM paints are good; do I go with standard black?

Edit: also, my leather seats are starting to crack; does anyone know the color to dye them and fix them? I can't find the MC40 info anywhere.

I sprayed the vinyl headliner in my 79 15 years ago with SEM ... still looks good and absolutely NO cracks or peeling . . .

Man, I wish you were closer, I got a guy ...

No really I found a local guy that does this type of work I believe it is based on the ColourLock products ( https://www.colourlock.com/?___store=usa ). My guy did a fantastic job, not only matching the color of the red but was able to repair some similar seat damage.

My best advice is take the time to find someone local that specializes in this type of work. I can do it myself but I did not want to chance it and the cost was low enough that for what I paid to have it done I would have easily spent on materials alone.

Nice to see another MC40 coming back to life.

PS: The Carbon Fiber 5 piece dash is really hard to find. Converting to plastic is inexpensive, but if you want to have the Carbon Fiber repaired (resurfaced) there are shops like this that can Repair or do the Laminate (they quoted me about $500.00 to redo a dash). https://www.exoticcargear.com/
Again this is a local shop for me, you should be able to find one in Florida.

Best of luck.

Motor On!

Man, I wish I was closer too. How did you find him? Just googled plastic painting?

And holy smokes $500 is a lot to repair o_o.

Edit: I did a quick search to try to find the dash kit and I can't find one anywhere so might be worth the money to repair it. Other just "carbon fiber" accessories for the interior trim are outrageously expensive.

Edit 2: I also dropped the seats off at a local leather repair shop. The woman at the front desk kept trying to get me to just replace the entire thing for $1,500+. I kept trying to explain to her that these were limited edition seats but "we can just replace them with the same colors." The guy who does all of the leather repair walked up halfway through the conversation and was talking about how he could repair them just fine but I'd need to keep up with their maintenance afterwards (lol no problem). They had a mini-polite fight when the woman went inside to get a quote for new seat covers when the guy just told me that no matter what she said he could repair them. I don't know if it was an elaborate plan to get me to pay the $250/seat to get them repaired or if the woman was trying to simply get more money out of me, but I should hopefully be getting the seats back tomorrow or Saturday and will post updated pics. Fingers crossed they come out awesome, especially for that price.
