R50/53 Heater Blower not working
Heater Blower not working
Hey guys I have recently ran into an issue with my 2006 MCS. It has auto climate control and has recently stopped turning on the blower fan. It al began with some squeaking coming from the fan then one day it just stopped working. This was three months ago. I assumed it to be a bad blower motor so I replaced the unit with a brand new one. This however did not fix it. I have since replaced the hedgehog resistor with a new unit as well as replaced the climate control module with a used unit. None of these have fixed the problem. I have used a multimeter and discovered that I am getting no power at the plug on the motor. If I jump the motor straight to a 12v source it engages and works. I have checked all fuses associated with the climate control that I can find. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I need to fix this thing before winter.
Isn't there a blower motor relay in the circuit? If so, check that.
Is the resistor getting power? Is that not in line before the blower motor?
If you have a wiring diagram, you could ohm out the relevant wires in the circuit to verify there isn't an open somewhere.
Or verify the climate the climate unit is sending the power, then trace the circuit until you find where there is no longer any power. If the climate unit is operating correctly and you determine there is a wiring issue, you could overlay the circuit to power the blower motor/resistor if you determine the wiring issue is in a difficult to access location (behind the dash).
I'm not certain with Mini, but I'm very familiar with Volvo cars and with Volvo, a known good control module will not work in a car other than the car to which it is programmed. Perhaps put your original climate unit back in the car since you know the used unit produced no results.

I wasn’t sure if the climate control modules were programmed to each vehicle or not so I will try using my old unit again. I will check power at the resistor and see if it is getting there. I am still trying to source a good wiring diagram for this system so I can chase the wires down and find the issue. As for the blower relay I replaced the relay which I believe to control the motor with no changes to the issue.
