retractable Top Not Locked

Howdy, I bought a 2018 F57 today with 5,400 miles. Is a beauty and looks great with my wife’s 2017 Countryman. When I retract the top completely down I get a Retractable Top Not Locked message. I looked through the manual but I’m not seeing what the problem is. Hopefully it’s user error. Any suggestions?

Are you holding the top switch until you hear the gong and see the message in the instrument cluster that the top movement is complete?

I am not and I'm sure that is the problem. I'll give that a try. Thank you for the suggestion.

Also, make sure there is nothing underneath the "tray" inside the trunk. If the tray isn't able to retract(?) downward, the top will come to rest on it and will not be able to complete the "lock" sequence. Mac

You may have figured this out by now, but SWMBO’s F57 does that about 75% of the time if the engine isn’t running when she drops the top. It doesn’t happen if we lower it by holding the unlock button on the fob. You’ll hear the lock engage just before the “OK” message.
