Anyone here gotten a PHATBOX?

Guys,

I was looking into getting a Phatbox for my next vehicle. Initially I was going to get another VW and the Phatbox's for them run $350. But now I am going with a MINI and Phatnoise(manufacturer) wants $650 for a BMW/MINI phatbox. There is absolutely no difference between the VW & Mini except the software.

Any ideas where I can get it cheaper?

Thanks
Matt

Gooch - A Phatbox is a digital music player that plays MP3/WMA/WAV files through your factory sound system.

They make them car maker specific, i.e. VW-BMW/MINI-etc, and they plug directly into your car's cd changer plug. It tricks the head unit into thinking its a cd changer.

Some cars can show the song info on the head unit. The ones that can't get the artist & song title through a voice system built into the phatbox. It tells you whats playing.

Standard Phatbox comes with a 20gb cartridge but they go up to 80gb.

I have one for my Audi, works pretty cool. Haven't found a better price for the MINI version. Maybe VW/Audi is providing the discount...
