How to Explain This...

My wife seems to think this is unreasonable. I told her that we need to keep the afternoon sun off the front windows... the fact I can park my GP under it is just a fortuitous coincidence.

She isn't buying it 🤨

If you want to keep the sun off the windows buy a proper shade/awning for the house.

If you want to keep the sun off the car put something -- a portable carport? -- on the drive you can park the car under to keep it out of direct sunlight.

I suspect you may have missed the point In any case, I consider this a portable car port - our entire front yard and drive except for this spot is on a steep slope.
