2013 MCS But ECU sticker date is 9/2018

So in 11/18 i purchased a well maintained 2013 MCS
After adding all the required mods and a few extra i pull the ECU today to send Mario the ECU.
but on the ecu is a sticker with a date of 12/2018

anyone know what this date on the factory sticker on the ECU is?
mario isnt sure either
attached is a picture
as i type this i just realized that European date format so its September 12th 2018
so was this ecu replaced?
i can find absolutely nothing about this car and as you know dealers wont divulge work history on vehicles and neither will the mfr.

Perhaps the ECU was updated similar to what the Mini dealers do when they add the Jcw tuning kit to a 2013 S as I had done with my Mini

Could the date be in the YY-MM-DD format, making it September 18, 2012?

Good pickup, Jim.
Google searches show images of other
ecus from 2013 MINIs with same part
numbers and 12-xx-xx date codes.
The 12 must mean 2012, not December.

That 100% makes total sense now given i think the official build date of my car is Oct 2012
