Intakes, intakes and more intakes...

I'm looking into intakes. I plan on doing it as my first mod for my MCS but im a bit scared of it being too loud. The last car I had became INSANELY loud after the intake install...

I'm a little scared of modding the car due to the warranty...

Have anyone tried the K&N Drop-in filter?

Pat_Cooper,
You should be fine with a drop in filter for your MC. There are foam, paper, and gauze filters. Take your pick. None are loud.

The larger filters like from Piper and Promini are a little louder but not too bad and maybe work a little better but it's hard to get much out of just an intake mod for the MC.

Maybe check out what others have done and listen to how the intakes sound. Go for a drive before you decide there is no rush. Meanwhile it is safe to do a drop in filter. Really. They are for sale from various vendors.

Pat- imho, save your money... drop-ins are more emotional (psychological)
improvement than anything especially on a normally aspirated motor with no other mods.

The Promini Intake System that we sell has about 10% more induction noise than stock. Sounds really good though. Not annoying at all. For stock sound with no noise the K&N drop in may be a good choice.

Actually guys, he said he has an MCS. The Alta is pretty loud under load, as is the BMP. The Pilo is relatively quiet.

For no noise increase over stock, do the drop-in. They do flow better, last forever, and filtrate better. I saw the comment above, but there are numbers to back it up, and it isn't expensive.

Here are some options:

Unifilter drop-in

BMC Filters drop-in $$

K&N drop-in

Pilo Racing intake

Hope that helps!

Feel free to contact me to ask any other questions - I don't carry all of the above products, but I know where you can get them if I don't have them.

ooops, sorry.

I was misguided by sir-minihune's comment "You should be fine with a drop in filter for your MC." hehehe. jk

I use the Pilo intake and it's very quiet, comparible to stock.
You'll get a tad more sc wine, but that's about it. Craftsmanship is very
good, and I think they even offer a black powdercoated version now.

It is a darker green then that photo in person. It is diffrent, but perfoms well.

The Black Shield looks awsome in the engine bay.
I have gone from the Stainless, to a prototype Electric Blue to the black powder coat, and must say that I like the black the most. Oh, if anyone wants to have the EB intake shield in good condition, I'll let it go cheap.

Anyone know if the Dinan fits '05 MCS? Their fitment page shows only to '04.

Any intake that fits the '02-'04 cars will fit the '05.

Hope that helps!
