yeah, so, non-runflat tires for the factory 16" xlites (v spoke, R84, etc) are needed. I tried calling alex at tire rack but for some ungodly reason, he isn't there at 1AM est... honestly, wtf?! har

here is my situation:

16" x-lyte r84's, with factory all season run flats.

I am facing another cruddy, slushy ohio winter. I need my new tires to handle the snow, rain, sleet, small children, etc AT LEAST AS WELL as the factory allseason runflats. I also drive about 30k miles a year (at least, i did up to now) 1/2 to 2/3 being highway.

bottomline:

equal or better all season traction than factory runflat.
def need better tread wear than runflat
fits 16" R84's
doesnt cost more than those friggin runflats.

Just leave him a message and he will give you a low down on what might what work best for your winter conditions. Tell him how much snow you get in the average winter. Better ride, better wear, better winter traction, lower prices should not be a problem for all season ultra performance tires.

Meanwhile, for your reading enjoyment and short of getting dedicated snow tires (safest if you have heavy snow and enjoy crunching lots of snow), consider the following All season tires-
BF Goodrich g-force T/A KDWS 205/55-16 89 load W rated 400 AA A $95
BF Goodrich Traction T/A H 205/55-16 90 load H rated 440 AA A $86
BF Goodrich Traction T/A V 205/50 or 205/55-16 87/90 load V rated 440 AA A $98/97 each
Avon Tech M550 A/S 205/55-16 91 load W rated 360 AA A $76 each
Bridgestone Potenza RE-950 205/55-16 91load V/H rated 400 A A $123/105

These do OK with plowed roads and light snow, just don't go too fast. Dry and wet traction should be fine.
