do you lose much room in the boot with the cd changer?
I am thinking of adding the official cd changer in the boot and was wondering how much room back there will I be giving up? Also, how do people have it mounted...vertically against the side? the back? flat on the floor of the boot? where? Any complaints about the CD changer? How much have people paid for it?
The changer goes inside the panel on the passenger side of the boot. You won't lose any room because it's not a space where most people would keep anything.
Can't help you on price - I didn't get one, but I'm sure that will be easy to find out.
Good luck!

You don't lose much space. Here are pics of an aftermarket changer--Alpine--with the OEM bracket.
It's at the far right

I did the same thing as OctaneGuy. I used the MINI OEM installation kit, bought an Alpine Changer, and a BlitzSafe adapter. In total, I think I spent about $350. I like the MINI bracket because it protects the changer from anything that is rolling around in the boot.
Compared to about $700
for the OEM changer, I thought it was a real bargain. The cable for the changer is already behind the panel in the boot, so you plug everything in, mount the bracket with some screws, and you're done.
If you have the steering wheel audio controls, they work with the changer, which is very nice.
