i just recieved my 2013 jcw paceman i bought in NC (pre hurricane) and had it shipped all the way to Oregon. yes, i am a fool. but when i start it up i hear a loud clunk on the drives side front wheel. the car is not in gear, but it sounds, to me, like the half shaft is broke or loose. i was wondering what on that side of the engine has moving parts. i did take it for a quick spin to make sure it wasn't a clutch issue, but when i got back there was a strong burning rubber smell, almost like hot brakes as if the e brake was still on but it was coming from the front drivers side of the car. i did the smell check and it wasnt the tire, or brake.... but i did think to myself about critters and such crawling up there to stay warm or something and thought maybe that was it, but with a flashlight i looked everywhere i could and couldnt find or see "pieces" of anything. im at a lose here, any suggestions on where to look next would be helpful.

 

so it could be the slave cylinder or a clutch going out....ill keep looking. i should stop buying minis
