F60 CM Newbie....questions for the group.
CM Newbie....questions for the group.
I have a 2015 JCW Hatch that I love! My wife’s 2004 Jeep Liberty is getting a lot of miles on it plus it has a short wheelbase and tends to ride a bit rough on trips especially. She does like being up high though..
So I’ve been looking around getting ideas...X3 and now the Countryman. Both are much lower than the Jeep so that may be a deal breaker for her...she is hearing impaired and relies on her vision when driving.
The dealer where I ordered my JCW has a 2015 CM S with black leather interior & black wheels that is Light Coffee in color that we both really like! This CM does not have the new 2 Liter Turbo engine however and that worries me. It’s 6 speed sport auto with paddles and has only about 24k miles...price is $22k.
What do you experts think? I haven’t even driven a CM but I’ve looked at them with interest for years as a great family car that isn’t huge but has AWD.
Opinions on this one? If I get serious should I go for the F60 CM instead? We really like the coffee color with black interior. We’d have two MINIs in the garage. I could live with that! 😉
Thanks for any advice or just opinions....all comments welcome.

I like the R60, drove mine for a few years before passing on to my son. Been pretty reliable.
If you are willing to spend the cash however, I think the F60 is a more refined vehicle and I like the BMW engines better than the N18's. It's bigger but still not really that big of a car.
My next MINI will probably be a Clubman or the electric HT. We shall see.
If you wife drove a Jeep for all these years, the MINI will be a treat.

Thanks for the info! I was thinking the same thing re the engine. I love the BMW engines! Problem is we both really like that coffee color and I think it was discontinued when the F60 came out. The new color brown is too copper metallic looking for my liking. By 2015 I’d think the N18 was pretty solid no? The R60 has a CD player too! Yippee! 😉
I think it would be best if I could get my wife to drive a Countryman first before making up our minds on which year, engine, etc. There is a used R60 dark blue one near where we live that would be fun to test drive & go from there.
I’m not anxious to get into another new car payment either so I am leaning toward the R60 as the buys seem pretty fair at low $20’s for sub 30k mile examples of the 2015 from looking on Autotrader.
Plus, until I see how that new configurator pans out I have no interest in tackling a new build right now although I’d most likely go with the CM S with new auto trans with paddles!...or my wife would...lol!

Drove both the R60 and F60. While low miles/well equipped and cared for R60s can be had pretty inexpensively, they are not nearly as nice as the F60s. If you go for an R60, don't drive an F60. You may also want to check out the Clubman if you don't need the SUV profile; I know you can get a good deal on the Clubman as their popularity is waning (based on sales) and we researched them while checking out the F60. The Clubman is definately lower to the ground and harder to climb in and out of.
Keeping my thread alive as I’ve received a few very good replies. As it goes the light coffee colored 2015 R60 CMS All4 we were interested in driving sold the day before making the trip to test drive it. I’m now thinking of going with the F60 when the time comes but building one on the configurator sort of leaves me cold mainly due to the bland color choices!....Really MINI are those the best colors you can cone up with? It’s just sad!
