Windshield Woes too !!

I've searched high and low throught this site and I can't seem to make a decision. I live on Long Island and have to replace my second windshield. What to do?? Do I go to the dealer and have them install the "new & inproved" windshield? Is it really better? Or should I go for an aftermarket one? If I do go for an aftermarket one, where do I go on Long Island?? I want to make sure that the job is a good one ! any help is appreciated.

My sixth windscreen was the first "new and improved "one in the united states. It lasted all of 5 weeks.I have a small diagonal crack on the driver's side upper corner that is entirely in the black area.I recently got a sticker with it ,so I am going to live with it until something more obvious necessitates it's replacement. When I do replace it it will be either with ppg's or pilkington's replacement.Good luck.PM me if you need more information.

New and imporved? I'm also curious as to how much better it is. I have not yet had a windshield crack under normal driving circumstances. However, I know that the current MINI windshields are only $82, so how can ya go wrong?

new and improved refers to an increase in temper (tensile strength) of 20% over the originals.I think if you do some research you will find that dealer installed windshields run between $ 750 - $1100 ( do a "search " under my name to see all threads pertaining to this subject)

I really hope the 05 Irons out all these kinks. My cousin too has replace his windshield twice already from a 03 model. We live in NY also. Stupid Long Island Expressway and the trucks. Always kicking up rocks!

I just had my windshield taken out by two rocks. My dealer tells me if I do an aftermarket install it will void my warranty on anything related. My insurance company says they will not pay the dealer price. So the battle starts.
