2008 hatchback window issues

Hey there, new to the site and I apologize if this issue has already been addressed but couldn’t find it when I did a search. I have a 2008 base Mini hatchback and noticed the passenger window stopped opening slightly with the door and when the passenger door is closed, it sounds like it’s trying to push it back up even though it never dropped. As of this morning, the driver side window still drops down a bit when opening the door but it no longer bumps back up to seal. Both windows roll up and down completely fine with the interior window switches so I don’t think it’s a wiring or motor issue but I readily admit I’m not really smart with these issues haha. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think the windows need to be reinitialized.

with the door closed and car on, open window (driver let's say) all the way down with finger on switch. keep it pressed down and count 15 sec. do the same with up position. once done, open door to see if it dips.

do the same for the passenger side.

I tried this and unfortunately it didn't work. The driver side window seems to have self corrected haha...the passenger one still isn't dipping. Would disconnecting the battery for a while be worth a try? It's not really a huge issue...just an annoyance mainly. It might be worth noting that it seems to have started after we had the windshield replaced. They didn't put the black side trim piece back on correctly and the window would roll down every time we tried to put it up because it would bump that trim piece and activate the pinch protection...after that it never really dipped but it does go up and down just fine...odd I know!

Aha...sure you can disconnect the battery to reset it. Once reconnected, try those steps to initialize it.

+1 I would disconnect and reset. Post up if it works for you otherwise then look at the motor or the actuator.
