Oil Catch Can thoughts

Good morning,

I am looking into the catch can for my 2013 GP2 JCW, and have it down to 2 choices. NM engineering or the BSH. I also liked the GTT can however shipping from England makes it not so attractive.

I like the convenience of the NM for draining however, it doesn't have a dip stick to check the level as the BHS does.

I have the hood sensor so I would have to do the mode as described in this post;

I read a few posts one of which a drain valve was added to the bottom of the BSH can.

For those of you that have the BHS how is draining it (also see that the have a siphon)?

Cheers!

You can buy 2 off ebay, along with the brass NTP->1/2" couplers and a small roll of heater core hose; All for the price of 1 of the mentioned cans.

After using the cheap ***** OCC's, I can agree that ANY can is better than none & a "high tech" OCC is just a soda can with a baffle in it anyway. Oil blend will affect what the can catches more than the type of can you install.

I went with the M7 catch can. it has a hose on the outside for quick level checks. I've had it on the car for almost a month and haven't seen it hit the lower portion of the check hose, but there's definitely fluid in it. I have an N18 which I guess don't have quite as much blow by as the N14

I liked my BSH a lot. Draining wasn't a problem. I used a Turkey marinade injector syringe and replaced the needle with a piece of flexible tubing ~6" long. Reminds me. I've got a BSH in my storage building I need to clean up and list in the classifieds. Can't use it on my F56.

I started out with the M7 carbon fiber can, avoid M7 or any empty cans without internal baffling, they catch nothing. Got a Mishimoto can from Amazon for $105. Works great!

This is 3 months worth of water and a little oil sludge-
