Need your input on wheel size and/or spacers

I am looking for a wider stance on my 2012 JCW Roadster. Can anyone tell me what size wheel spacers that the rear wheels can accommodate without interference from the car body?

In addition, can I use a wider wheel that the stock 17x7 tires that came with the car. Can I go with a 9 or 10-inch wide tire?

Please provide your thoughts and advise. Thanks.

I roll a 2013 JCW hatch that is lowered 2 inches with springs on 235/40/ 17 rubber. Wheels are 17x7.5 Rota RB using studs with 12.5mm spacers to clear brakes and 20mm spacers in the rear just to look badass. Car also has front and side splitters installed.
I've run this combo since new and have had NO PROBLEMS other than fending off admirers at local gas stations all the time.
