You can, but have to run wires from the original reverse light wiring to the new tail lights.

yes have to run wiring from the reverse light in the original light down to the new light. But can be done

Some owners have done it because they preferred the older taillight.

The old taillight will be almost but not quite plug and play, and to simplify the work you can repurpose the wiring that runs to the facelift rear fog to change it into a reverse light.
