F55/F56 Wheel Fit Question
Wheel Fit Question
Hello all!
Thanks for the continued help!
Currently have a '17 MCS with the 16" wheels. Understanding is they have a 54mm offset?
Can I replace with the same bolt pattern, 17" but with 40 or 46 offset?
Thanks again....learning as I am going!

C5marine, here s my wheel and tire story.
I have a 17 MCS convertible w/ 16" wheels. Wheels on Minis can become downright confusing regarding what works, what doesn't, is the care lowered, wider tires, etc, etc. It takes some time to learn the ropes, so to speak. Spend some time on Tirerack.com looking at wheels. That will help you get s sense of what works/doesn't. Pay close attention to offsets, widths, construction and weight of the wheel. Some wheels that look great are heavy which is a bad thing performance wise. Some that are cheap are just cheap. Once you learn about wheels then learn about tire sizes, tire diameters and what tire fits on what width wheel.
Generally speaking, if your car is stock and you want a 17" wheel, look for a 5x112 bolt pattern, and an offset in the 45-50mm range. IMHO the best selection of tires of high performance summer tires for our Minis are in 17".
At the end of the day, I replaced the 16" Pirelli runflats w/ 16" Michelin Sport A/S 3+. The handling improvement was amazing to me. Maybe next time I'll upgrade the wheels. There are many on this forum very knowledgeable on this topic.
Good luck.
