Conclusive info on 1st gen differences?

I've always enjoyed reading about and understanding the differences between the 1st gen cars so I know exactly what I want to retrofit into mine
I also enjoy reading about the history of the car, since we've had one in the family since 2002 and enjoyed the attention and comraderie between 1st gen owners during those first few years.

However, I can't seem to find a post/article/book that has them all in one place. Surely someone has compiled a complete list by now.

I've found this on the facelift differences, but it's far from complete: http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f29/...t-guide-29996/

This on some of the year-by-year updates and some info on the different models and when they were introduced: http://www.motoringfile.com/mini-r50r53-buyers-guide/

And this on models, pricing, production etc.: http://libraryofmotoring.info/facts/special_editions/

I'd really like a more complete list of the facelift guide, with bullets of differences in the systems of the car and differences between models and model years. Would also love to see some listings of options offered in each year, like what seats were offered, dashboard colors etc. I'm gonna try and see if the Wayback Machine will offer some answers as well.

Real OEM is separated by both year and month so could double check the part numbers.

We have had internal discussions on creating a database for many MINI questions. The Acura Forum that is also an IB group has a good system that their members can use. I have a spreadsheet on my laptop that has some specific threads and other information on Gen1s that I use when trying to point somebody in the right direction or for answering a question.

What you are looking for would be a great start for such an "index".

Real OEM requires you to go through a build date though; you can't just see updates to parts through the years, right?

An index would be a good start, but I'd really just like one place to be able to see all the information I want: model updates and technical details, facelift comparisons, options etc. There must be someone who's done it. I'd even read an actual book about it. The Bentley manual has some information, but it's also not very complete.

Sounds like something out of a Kevin Costner movie, "you build it and they will come to NAM and visit it" (or something like that)
