Interior/Exterior Any advice on painting dash?
Any advice on painting dash?
I am about to paint my dash blue. Anyone does this before by themselves. I bought krylon plastic paint and lacquer. I am assuming I should sand the pieces then apply 2 or 3 layers of paint and 6-8 layers of lacquer. My biggest fear that it will chip off once the job is completed. Any advise on the proper procedure and materials would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you will be happy with the results. Try spraying something else first to see how it looks. You need to use a two stage automotive paint. After the paint has a few days to dry and shrink it needs to be wet sanded and polished. I know a good painter that you can send your dash panels to. If you are intrested I can get you his email.
It will work if you take your time and have no dust...you can still wet sand the paint and lacquer...I have done it....and it came out fine...also don't forget you need a printer...you should use a white primer cause the will help the blue to be more vibrante...then the more lacquer you use the deeper the paint will get...worst case you do like Sliver says and take to a pro...
again as long as there is no dust and you take your time and wet sand if nessisary you will be fine...and save 300-400 bux
