Hello all,
04 MCS. Please help me identify this knocking/drum like noise coming from the passenger suspension side. You can hear the noise when on a level road and you can hear more on a bumpy road. Anyone have any ideas or experienced this with their MCS? I already changed both sides of the wheel bearing and CV axle.
Check your lower (dogbone) motor mount. Beyond that, have a look at your LCA bushings - they're likely shot in any R53 (if they haven't already been replaced). Ball joints too, but that would be a really bad ball joint if it made that sound. Anything loose in your strut assembly(ies)?
I got the chance to look underneath and top of the Mini this past weekend. Look thoroughly and didn't find anything out of ordinary. Bushings and ball joints look ok. No major wear and tear just minor small leak driver side shock and passenger side pinion rack. Nothing to worry much about. Still need to keep an eye on. At the top although...this is what I found. Could this be the culprit that makes the odd drum noise?
