Hey guys! I'm currently in the market for a used cylinder head for my R53 and I'm considering purchasing a Craigslist engine. I went to look at it yesterday, and compression+leakdown tested it, but the results weren't too promising. At least not enough to justify my spending half of my repair budget on it. I only need the head, but he won't split the engine to make it affordable for me. Here are the details:

• 110k miles
• MY2003
• Compression Test: 105/105/110/115
• Leakage Test: 14%/4%/6%/16%
• Supercharger: spins well, no sqeaks or shaft play
• Oil pan: no leaks, no cracks (would make a great donor for a baffled pan)
• Crank Pulley: like new
• Valve Cover: great condition
• Intake Manifold: great condition (would make a great donor for a port/polish)
• Fuel Rail: good condition, will throw injectors in for free

The Block, Oil Pump, Timing Chain/Sprocket, Camshaft, Lifters, etc will require purchase, disassembly, and inspection (and possibly testing) before I can sell it to someone in good conscience. But if there's any interest, please let me know. If I can get ~80% of the purchase price of the motor spoken for, I'll buy it, disassemble, send you photos of the parts, and then we can deal with Paypal. My interest in taking this complete spare motor in Arizona and incorporating it into the hearts of our dying R53's across the US where the parts can be fully appreciated.

Here's a Google Spreadsheet I made for people to reserve parts. I'll be buying a warrantied head if I can't get ~$400 worth reserved by Friday, so reserve your parts quickly or forever hold your peace.

Bump! I decided to purchase a used cylinder head after some consultation with some other NAM members, but the dude still has the engine! Still willing to purchase and ship out to you guys for repurposing if 3/4 of the cost gets spoken for!

 

Hi there!

Is the supercharger still for sale? (can't access the google doc from my work machine). Is there any aftermarket pulley with the supercharger?

My guess is the mileage you listed is the mileage on the supercharger - has it given you any issues at all? Have you noticed any hesitation or less pick up?

Sorry for all the questions - I'm in the market for a new supercharger and am looking to replace with a used one that will hopefully last me until I can afford to upgrade or do a swap.

Sorry....I think I misread your post - the supercharger is coming off the used engine you are thinking about buying, right?
