People might disagree with me, but change your oil. That is the first thing I did once I hit 1k miles.

If you do listen to Mini and keep your oil in for 10k miles there could be a lot of break in gear metal shavings in there. For my piece of mind I changed mine.

Changing oil can't hurt, but todays engines don't really have the same issues of the old days. If I was going to keep the car long term (100K+) yeah I'd change the oil.

I agree. I changed it at 1200 after they replaced my engine.

I'm at 110K miles and have only changed the oil when the car tells me to, roughly every 10K miles. I haven't seen any problems with the engine.

Should something have broken by now?
