My wife's '14 R57 seems to have forgotten how to dip the door window when opening/closing. Thus making it impossible to get the window to fit under the top seal when closing.

Anyone else run into this and know the cause/solution?

 

I think I figured it out, stfw found me a few results on 'R57 reset the window'. That led me to putting in the key, pressing down the window switch and holding it for 30 seconds. After which I held the switch up for 30. Now the window properly dips when opening and then closed back up after closing. No idea why it decided to forget how to do this, but it seems to be recalibrated now.

 

Mine did that just before my battery died. Replaced the battery and it went back to normal.

 

It's been almost 4 months since I recalibrated the windows. They're still working fine. It's been fine otherwise, with no other electrical problems.

But, yes, modern vehicles have a lot of things that depend on the battery being in top shape. Best to plan on having to replace it in the 4-6 year range. Some will get more, some less. The single most important thing you can do to avoid problems with your battery is never let it drop below 10-11vdc and certainly not fully dead. Excessive numbers of 'deep discharge' cycles will shorten it's lifespan.
