R50/53 door locks
Yes, it needs to be programmed by the dealer, a shop with the programming capability, or by getting the program and connector to do it yourself. There are several convenience options to customize your MINI. Unfortunately, you need a computer to change them unlike the later generations. If you don't do it yourself make sure you know all options you want to change to get the most out of the programming because they usually charge a minimum of .5-1.0 hours of labor time.
The 2010 should be able to change the locks through the instrument cluster along with other options.

Not sure how complete the lists are. I think you can program other stuff with NCS Expert that the dealer wouldn't change. Just make sure you know what you're doing with the NCS Expert because you can possibly brick your body control module or other expensive modules.
