So, yesterday morning i was going out and noticed that the mirror cap had come undone and was just hanging onto the rest of the mirror. Has anyone else had this happen to them ? It was -9C at the time, could this be related to the temperature? I hope not!
Gotta wait until it warms up some before i play with it as plastic can be very brittle in the cold.

 

Possible the tabs broke when installed and it worked its way off or its was bumped by another car? Did you look at the tabs on the back side?

 

We have about the same car and I live in the cold and have never had that happen. I have seen whole rows of cars with their mirrors knocked off when the roads get too narrow from snow.

 

Well, this was in my driveway. However, it was more than likely done by someone walking by, who bumped it, then just set it on the rest of the mirror. I didn't notice any other marks or anything. Just one of those mysteries i guess!
And no, i didn't notice any tabs that were missing, but that was a great suggestion! Thanks, Gary

 

Yea, possible someone bumped it enough to undo the clips. Check what the clips clip into on the mirror housing side. They might be damaged.
