Can't shift into gear R53

Ok, so the clutch on my R53 was starting to get high and its been slipping now it wont go into any gear, I can start it in gear and go that way but i cant shift, im not losing any fluid and i took a look at the slave cylinder and it didnt look like it had been leaking, is it safe to assume I need a new clutch or is there something else I should look into first?

How many miles on the clutch? If 100K miles + its possible. Could be something else but you likely need to tear it down to see, i.e. throwout bearing or fork.

Before you do all that it might be good to pull the air filter housing and inspect the transmission mechanical shift linkages. If nothing looks like its falling apart and your clutch pedal applied pressure is still the same as before then all that's left is the linkage at the shifter(hidden above the exhaust pipe, probably have to drop the exhaust) or the clutch assy itself. What and when you order depends on who's doing the work, how much money you have and can you afford to let the car sit while you wait on parts.

If high mileage DD car with no backup, the easy inspections didn't reveal anything and I was doing the work, I would be inclined to order the Valeo solid flywheel/clutch assy, a slave cylinder, and a rear main seal for the engine.

Good luck
Bruce

Yes, how many miles are on the clutch? Is it the original? If not, what mileage was it replaced at? When was the last time the slave was replaced/serviced?

It's the original clutch at 123k miles i don't know the last time the slave cylinder was serviced or replaced, I took a look at it and I would guess it's been replaced at some point it looks newer than the parts around it, I went ahead and ordered a clutch kit and will be pulling the transmission today and I will update what it actually is

At that mileage it could definitely be the clutch. I recently dealt with long pedal travel and grinding of gears without any clutch slippage and ended up replacing the clutch, which fixed the issue. Did you get seals to replace while doing the clutch as well? It's not a bad idea to replace these seals while doing a clutch job as you'll have access to them. Not sure what kit you got, but just as a reference for parts list, this is what we recommend to replace while doing a clutch job:

Anyways, once you break into things and get a better idea of what is going on definitely report back and let us know. If you have any questions along the way don't hesitate to let us know and be sure to check out our clutch tech article for assistance during your project. Good luck!

clutch was completely gone surprisingly the flywheel is in good shape, I got the rear crankshaft seal to replace while im in there and I got the luk clutch kit. It definitely was the clutch it's wore down to the rivets on the pressure plate side
