I just finished my son's install for his R53 after some crook stole his first system. All MB quart in the Mini. 12' shallow mount, 2 sets of 6.5 and tweeter component. those were placed into the stock speaker placements. JL audio clean sweep, running the factory radio with Aux for Ipod/iphone. Amp is a 1000wtt 5 channel MB quart 1000.5 with built in xover and bass ****.

I attached a few pictures of the rear install, everything up front looks stock!

Good looking setup. How's it sound. I'm about to put a 10" JL 10w6v6 hoperfully paired with a rockford punch 500 watt after Christmas. Are there any rattles caused by the extra sound that you've notice that need attention?

hahahahaha, I use to install car audio system back in the mid 80's for a living. Took a few best of shows and a bunch of 1st-3rd place awards. Several hundred awards and had about nine cars make it to the finals. The system is well balanced, but my son likes it a bit heavy on the bass side. He has a bass boost **** under the toggle switches to bump up for his liking. Mini Coopers has a decent speaker placement. We put a 6.5 and a tweeter in the doors. used the stock locations and in the rear, same thing, 6.5 and tweeter in the rear speaker placement. The system sounds very clean and the bass is well felt. Small box, the MB quart 12 is a shallow mount and only requires 1 cubic feet.
