Transmission swap and cruise control

So this spring I swapped out my 04 6 speed without LSD for an 05 with LSD. Has anyone had any luck getting their cruise control back after the swap? it does work in 3rd gear but the fuel economy takes a hit at 75 mph. While getting the power steering pump recall done, the dealer did not have a clue. It's not a huge deal but I do some long trips and it would be nice to have again. My searches haven't turned up anything concrete besides "the dealer should be able to fix it."

The ECU controls the c.c. and depends on recognizing the expected gear ratios,
which are different in the post-facelift transmissions compared to the earlier ones.
1st and 2nd are different in the newer transmission but c.c. doesn't work in
those gears anyway. 3rd is close enough to work for some reason, and
4,5, and 6 are different enough not to work. If you could get someone to
reprogram the ECU for the new transmission, it should work, but I wouldn't
expect the dealer to even try to do this.
I never got cruise control in the first place, as I didn't think it'd be very helpful
or fun on a manual transmission car.

I know why it doesn't work but I was hoping one of our Indy shops here who play with tuning and such had a solution like "send us your ECU and all will be good when you get it back" or someone else who has done the swap figured it out. I don't use the cruise all that often but the other day I was on the thruway doing 75 for 8 hours straight. It would have been nice to have it back.
