I had an agreement with Rennfahrer555 to buy this car and broke the deal. I made an offer which he accepted. The deal included an inspection. I found a shop within 5 miles of his house and he said he would bring it in. He never did. He strung me along for three weeks telling me that he was too busy to get it inspection but would try later. I checked in today and he told me the car was sold.

All of our discussions were over text messages. There is no ambiguity about any of this.

I bet a local buyer offered asking price with no inspection. What would you do? OK, everyone's different. Hard to say no to "cash in hand" without the hassle of a non-local buyer who wants an arranged inspection. Thats nice of him to arrange an inspection, but its above and beyond. If you want it inspected, thats usually something you do yourself.

Now if you started traveling to pick this up and he sold it under your feet, thats different. Doesn't sound like that happened. Its just business, dont take it personally. Lots of MINIs out there!

I would guess that's how it went down or something like it.

What would I have done? I would have honored the contract out of legal and ethical principles.

I wrote about this so that others on the forum would know about this seller.
