I just acquired a 2013 Countryman S and, while I really like the center rail and all its convenience (I think), it would be more convenient if the accessory base plate could slide all the way forward to the shift housing. However, there are rubber inserts in the rail that block forward progress the last foot or so. Can these be removed without compromising any functionality or purpose?

 

yes, they can be removed and/or relocated anywhere on the rail
