Has anyone had their IN TANK-FUEL PUMP replaced?

Recently, I am experiencing issues on cold starts and takes 3 attempts to get the car started consistently.

Few positive observations... No CEL's or codes, battery charge is good, MPG is at a steady 37.X and no loss of power.

I would intermittently hear the noise once the car door is opened that activates the in-tank fuel pump and even if the noise is present, I could not start the car on the first attempt. This leads me to believe that the rear fuel pump is at fault.

The car has 173K on the clock and still has the original rear fuel delivery components (includes fuel filter). I have not performed a fuel pressure testing as of today...

Has anyone had their IN-TANK FUEL PUMP replaced? Similar symptoms perhaps?

Thanks!

Not too many. Most of the time its HPFP up from on the DI engines. Cold start is tied to the HPFP.

Can you hear the rear pump whine and primed ( when you open/ unlock your car)?

I can hear the rear FP prime intermittently when I open the car door... plus just from today, since I never lock the car, i accidentally pressed the unlock button on the key fob and hear the pump priming. Started the car and took 3 attempts much like before.

I finally got the CEL on the tach today too. Loss power but went away after a few seconds - feels like something was clogged and then unclogged during the process.

Thanks for the link on the DIY..! Will read up on it. The rear pump is the original so it do you think it's time for a replacement given the fact that it's not priming the pump like it should?

Thanks!
