I have a 2014. Below the toggle switches there is an odd, thin slot. Then below that a pocket. The pocket could have several uses I guess, but what is that slot for? Is there any purpose? Anyone done anything with it?

 

do you have a picture? I disassembled my 2011 Countryman all interior and forgot how things look like..lol

 

Actually found it in the manual called storage. Not sure what you could store there. Its too low to do too much with.

 

I toss change in mine. It's really useless storage though, even for coin.

 

I asked my buddy Josh at Mini of Tempe in AZ and he says that the thinking behind it is for your cell phone. Go figure

 

The only reason it's there is because on the 2011 and 2012 CMs, the SPORT button, window locks, fog lights, etc. used to have a row of buttons there and the window controls took up the toggle switches like the other MINIs. When they moved the windows controls to the doors in 2013, they moved that row of buttons to the switches and where the buttons used to be we now find a blank hole with no usable space.

 

Perfect fit for a pair of sunglasses for me, but a bit of a pain in the **** to get to with big hands.
