Weird clunking noise...opinions?
Hey guys!
Here's a video of my issue. Whenever I let off of the clutch in 1st or reverse gear, there's a clunk as the car starts moving. When I jacked my passenger side up and moved my wheel, it did this.
Opinions?

That would be your CV joints in the front axles. I just replaced both of mine last Friday. I had the same noise and same wheel movement. I ended up with the re-manufactured axles made by GKN Loebro from Pelican Parts. My research on this forum steered me away from the new ones you can get in the $75 to $150 range. There are installation videos available (the Bentley book is not real helpful) Took me about 5 hours but it could have taken a lot less; probably around 3.
Abnormal play in a cv joint can definitely be an issue and it will need to be replaced. If you have determined the axle is indeed your issue, as stated above, it's good to go with OEM supplier replacement (GKN) here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0. You didn't list the year or model MINI you have so make sure to select the correct one. If you need help with replacing it yourself, check out this NAM thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4092138. Let me know if you have any questions.
