Drivetrain M7 Aerogel Manifold Blanket
M7 Aerogel Manifold Blanket
I just installed a Milltek header and need to replace the manifold heat shield because the original deteriorated. Anyone have experience with the M7 Aerogel blanket and is it worth it. I realize it is not a replacement for the OEM shield but supposedly reduces engine bay temps when installed on top of shield.

It works. I've had one on TRACKRAT for a few years now and it does reduce heat from the header in the engine bay. Easy installation and, for filter replacement, you just pull it back on the passenger side.
We tested them and didn't like how it blocked airflow around the engine directing more heat toward the power steering pump and such.
So the easiest thing to do is to just trim the stock heat shield or drill the rivets and spread it a little and it will work with your new header.

While that may be the case for a street-driven car, I want to keep the topside air as cool as possible. After a 30 min. session on VIR-Full in the Summertime, I need all the help I can get and this blanket earns its keep for me.
