What are you talking about? Are you talking about the protest/forfeit by Chiles and Jacobs?

Last I heard was they didn't have bumpstops installed on their front shocks? It was noticed and they basically decided not to run the following day.

Driver's Side Missing Bump Stop

To our dismay, Chiles and I discovered that the driver's side front bump stop was missing when we jacked up the car after H-Stock competition on Thursday. All other bump stops were in place. We immediately withdrew from the competition.

The fact that everyone would be required to remove the wheels from one side was announced in advance, and it was up to the drivers to choose which side went up for inspection. We must have had the wheels off the car a dozen times in the past 3 weeks but never noticed it was missing. Perhaps it wasn't missing prior to Thursday. I suppose it could be laying out there after getting smashed or something during runs on Thursday, but we felt it was our responsibility to present a 100% legal car and did not want trophies that were tainted in any way. Some people pointed out that it is not a performance advantage (particularly only on one side of the car) and that we should go through the protest process to see if the protest committee would agree and just issue a hand-slap, but we felt withdrawing was the right thing to do.

Congratulations to Keith Brown on his win. And a special note of congratulations to Mike Potocki who is relatively new to the Cooper but really did a great job at several events this year to take the ProSolo title for the year and a nice finish at Nationals!

Jeff,

Sorry to hear about the mix-up. Having competed against both you and Mark in the past I know you are very aware of the rules in SCCA Solo II and would never intentionally bring an illegal car to Nationals. Having said that, I know this must have been a tough decision for the two of you but a noble one based on the level of competition and the seriousness of the event. Needless to say, I'm sure your presence was missed on Sunday and we'll look forward to competing against you next year.

Stuart

BTW- Congratulations to all the winner including Keith Brown and Lorin Mueler(who had never driven a MINI before Nationals). I wish I could have been there...
