A friend of mine and his 2010 MINIJusta Hardtop need to get new tires. He saw my new A/S Comp2 on my 2013 MCS and loved them. But I got 205/55R16. I went a little wider and I love it. He loves it too.
For his Justa, stock tire is 175/65R15. How wide can he go on stock wheels/suspension? Would 195/55 be ok? He wants to get BFGoodridge Comp-2s like I did.
195/55-15 will fit the OEM wheel but tire diameter is small at 23.4".
A small tire diameter will cause some error with odometer and speedometer. 888 vs 858 (OEM) revolutions per mile difference. Wheel gap will be about 1/2" more and ride height will drop 1/2".
In Ultra High Perf Summer tire class there is also-
Dunlop Direzza DZ102 treadwear 460
205/55-15 $82.57 each will fit rims 5.5"-7.5" wide so it is OK with OEM 15" wheel.
tire diam. is 23.9" which is closer to 24.4" OEM.

Vs the Comp-2 the DZ102 trailed and wasn't as good in wet but tire size is much better.
For a base Cooper on OEM suspension, 195 or 205mm wide tires are fine as long as tire diameter is about 24.4" or OEM.
Another option is to search in another tire class like
Ultra High Performance All Season
I know you'll think the tread pattern isn't aggressive (and you're right)
Kumho Ecsta 4X II 205/55-15 $86.25 each, $60 rebate, 420 treadwear. good in dry or wet.
