Back-up Camera

We have children and our old gen 1 mini is long gone.

We looked at the Countryman about a year ago. No back up camera was a deal killer for my wife. Any word on this changing with the next model year?

We are not interested in an aftermarket item. In her view it has to be a factory item.

Any info you have is appreciated. Thanks!

The 2017 Countryman is getting a redesign to bring it up to date with the rest of the lineup with new engines and new technology options, including a backup cam which is available on all the other MINI models. Look for it to hit dealers early next year.

/\ - AGREED, 2017 is the way to go if you are still in the market for MCC and those options. I have aftermarket back-up cam and it works great in my 2016.

Yes! I also expect we'll see backup cams as standard across the lineup by the time the MY2018 MINIs come out, especially since the MINI Connected screen is now standard as well.

All new cars must include a backup camera by May 2018. That's the latest from the federal government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which recently announced the finalized regulation on backup cameras after years of back-and-forth.
