17x8 Wheel Fitment
17x8 Wheel Fitment
I know there are a lot of other threads but I haven't seen anyone with this setup and I'm not sure what my inner clearance issues will be. 09 Cooper s woth st coilovers. Currently have 16x7 et40 with a 195/55/16 and the tire is about 3mm from the coilover collar. I just bought some 17x8 et45 and know that I will need a spacer.
I've seen a couple cars with 17x8 et30 but they're running 205s. I'm wanting to run 215/45s and obviously I will have to raise the car but I'm not sure if a 5mm spacer will clear the coilover and the collar. I would buy a 10mm spacer but they don't seem to be available and a 15mm would force me into a 205.
Any insight is greatly appreciated and if this is in the wrong section I'm sorry.

Not quite the answer you're looking for, but I have a pair of 17 X 7.5 ET42 rims using 225/45R17 drag race tires, without spacers. They were bought from Tire Rack using the Mini Cooper filter, so only wheels that fit were listed. Rubber's pretty close to the shocks, but it clears. Car was never lowered and rear tires are 16". High speed sharp corners (track), will cause tire / fender interference, but these are for drag strip and work fine.

Thanks for the reply. I bought these wheels from tire rack as well using he mini filter but I know I'm going to run into clearance issues using coilovers. The stock struts are shaped to maximize clearance but the coilovers limit the space quite a bit. Just trying to see if clearing with a 5mm spacer is possible or if I need more.
