I'm really enjoying my 2004 MCS, but I've been craving some additional power. I like the idea of the JCW package and am thinking about it.

Has anyone had the JCW installed at Motor City Mini in Michigan (my "local" dealer ). I'm wondering if they do a good job on what appears to be a pretty big job.

Also, is it true that the package comes with a new aero kit? IF so, what is the practical difference between the regular MCS front air dam and the JCW (e.g ground clearance) and can you keep the existing aero kit instead? I have a clear bra on my car and would hate to have to re-do that.

I don't have the JCW kit, but I did consider it when I purchased my MCS. It basically came down to the cost. For what you get, it is pretty damn expensive. As far as I know it does not come with an aero kit (Just new cylinder head, new S/C, exhaust, ECU update, and some JCW emblems.) You can do other aftermarket add-ons costing far less without voiding your warranty and still get a decent performance gain. (Air intake, exhaust, maybe some iridium spark plugs, new air diverter for s/c intercooler.) Plus, there is a Dinan kit that can be installed for much less than the JCW kit that includes intake, ecu update, exhaust, and they even have a big bore throttle body you can get too.

 

I've heard horror stories about Motor City mini; some people drive as far as cleveland to get service. May want to search NAM for posts related to that.
