Which replacement struts to keep stock 2002 base

I did a quick search but didn't see my specific quesiton.

My question centers around getting stock or sport struts. I recently purchased this 2002 Base model from the original owner. Part of the paper work I received from them included the original window sticker. One the of the listed "standard" features is:
- "Sport Suspension w/front and rear anti-roll (stabilizer) bar"

So is this the sport suspension I see listed when looking for struts or was there a real sport suspension as this is listed under standard features?

I'd like to go budget and get some Bilstein as they seem the most cost effect at $80 or less each.

2.) Do most replace the bump stop and the boot when replacing the struts? Or just if they look bad?
3.) most struts are pictures with the top M12 nut. Do they all come with this nut?

Thanks

Believe it's a stiffer spring/damper and thicker sway bar. When doing OE replacements, the suspension will be noted for or not for vehicles with sport suspension. The Bilstein Touring Class (B4's) are a great upgrade and OEM replacement strut/shock. They're also extremely economically priced for an upgrade without sacrificing ride comfort. Yes, some people replace the bump stops and a few other items. You'll definitely want to replace your strut/shock mounts. I can get you a list of items to replace if you'd like. Just shoot me a PM. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Rude Joe!

If you have a 2002 Cooper, the front suspension is different for models built up to 03/2002, so be careful when purchasing replacements. The pre and post 03/2002 front strut / spring / guide support / drop links are NOT interchangeable.

The 'sport suspension' on the 2002 Cooper non-S is the same suspension as that was offered on the Cooper S models.

Most people only replace the bump stop and boot if they are worn and deteriorating. If they 'look' okay, then you shouldn't have to replace them - they are not critical items for the function of the front strut.

As for the nut on the shaft, suppliers will typically provide a replacement nut only when the nut size is different from stock. If the nut is not provided, you should be able to re-use the stock nut.

Hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any questions!

The manufacture date is 5/2002 so I know I don't have the earliest version.

I'm am thinking that the sport suspension that was a standard feature on mine is probably not the upgrade suspension that is on the "S" version. I'm not sure how to find out for sure. Thanks
