'03 r 53. Just what does the "controller" for H.I.D headlights do?
I'm having a problem with the left headlight "stepper" motor which changes the height adjustment...It won't "step".Am I assuming too much that the "controller" is separate from the "ballast"?

 

not sure what the controller is, that could do the height adjustment. the ballast is for powering the bulbs. since I don't have a controller and I did a HID retrofit.... id assume the controller is as so

 

Don't know that's it's called a 'controller' per say, but I know the leveling sensors are down on the control arms near the crash tubes. They're made out of cheap plastic, perfect for disintegrating after a run in with a pothole...worth a look see!

That controls the aim of both the front head lights.

Sounds like the headlight mount inside arm might have popped out or broke. Its inside the housing itself.
